Here I Am Again!

Well, what can I say! I am a glutton for punishment I guess. I am back in Afghanistan for a fourth time! Yes...FOURTH time! I was here in 2005 for all of 1 month, but to me that still counts. I couldn't ask for a better gig than this one. The work is steady and not too overwhelming! However, working with a great group of guys really helps. The less I have to babysit or be someones mom the better for me and our team as a whole.

So why did I come back? I have done all the other jobs a Close Protection Operator can do. I have been a rear gunner, I have done the advance, I've driven, I've bodyguarded and I've been second in command. This time around I wanted to be a team leader. I got my wish! I also got my pick of spots (Eggers). The PL COMD said since I had been over here as many times as I had been, that I should get to pick where I want to go, almost like a reward.

Right now we are gearing up for all sorts of fun. I promised my beautiful wife that I would keep this thing updated more often. Check back because I plan on updating at least once a week.

Help Us To End Breast Cancer

I am writing this post on behalf of my lovely wife Stacy. She is currently holding down the fort and taking care Ethan while I am away on tour in Afghanistan. She is very supportive of everything I do, even if it does mean going away for extended periods of time. Because she supports me in everything I do, I thought it was about time for me to support her in something she believes in. Stacy is participating in a weekend to end cancer walk in August. Her goal is to raise $2000 for this worthy cause and I am hoping you can help her to do it. You can either donate securely online or print out a pledge form. To donate online goto:
Click on donate. When the screen changes select search for participant and type in stacy sperling. Her name should be the only one to show up below, so click on that. Once there you can select an amount from the donate here box (or just select friend and you can enter any amount). Once you select that it takes you to a screen where you fill in your payment info (just follow the steps).
Again, thank you to everyone for your care and support.

Bala Hissar

Here is place I never even knew was in Afghanistan, let alone Kabul. It was occupied by Alexander the Great, the British and of course the Russians, but now it it belongs to the Afhan National Army (ANA). Enjoy the awesome pictures of Bala Hissar.

It's been awhile since I have poste anything to this site, but I have been pretty busy lately. Now today I have a few extra minutes, so I thought I would post a few pictures of Canada Day 2008 at Camp Eggers. Enjoy.
